After a few weeks of shooting on my iPhone and my workhorse Canon 5D Mark III, I came to an understanding that I needed another camera, one that was portable and discrete enough that would become my new daily carry. I didn’t like my iPhone drained of power and the 5D was too large and heavy for this. In the end, I found myself downsizing my photography kit with a Fujifilm X100V from a local photographer who needed to sell it off.
I love this camera, it has a nostalgic, classic camera body with knobs and controls that oozed style and functionality. Compact enough to bring with me anywhere without unwanted attention for my introverted side, and powerful enough with its APS-C sensor to produce the quality I look for. The f/2 23mm fixed lens is sharp throughout and the lack of zoom forces me to take a more proactive approach to composition.
Taking shots around the house since the rain kept me inside for a few days. Playing with the light and shadows from the windows I found this ball under the chair and something about this photo makes me feel nostalgic for family.

Have patience with all things, but first of all with yourself.

Rewarding yourself after practicing patience is also a good thing. Ah. Sushi.
